AbstractIn two groups, each of 50 patients undergoing pulpectomy or multiple extractions, effects of combining xylocaine nerve block with halothane general anesthesia were studied. Local blockade of surgical stimuli reduced markedly the incidence of dysrhythmias occurring during halothane anesthesia. Recovery was faster and postoperative analgesia was enhanced.
