AbstractSocial networks are creating new ways for people with long-term conditions to seek support and offering new ways for health professionals to communicate with patients who have long-term conditions. There is evidence this may be helpful but nurses need to be skilled at operating in these new digital spaces to support patients effectively. This article discusses the growing use of social networks in long-term conditions, focusing on their use in diabetes care.
