AbstractOphthalmia neonatorum is defined as conjunctivitis appearing during the first month of life. The differential diagnosis includes chemical, bacterial, viral, and other pathogens, including Neisseria gonorrhoeae, herpes simplex, and Chlamydia trachomatis. Neisseria meningitidis is not commonly specifically included in the differential.
