AbstractTranscutaneous ultrasound of pleural lesions has been established as a method complementary to conventional X-ray examination. The opacified lung allows the sonographical investigation of the lung parenchyma for synchronous and metachronous focal lesions. The aim of the pictorial essay is to describe the sono graphic patterns and to discuss the differential diagnosis, as well as the pathological correlation of focal lesions in the opacified lung.
