    AbstractAlthough proposed Medicare reimbursement changes may reduce financial incentives to develop specialty hospitals, other anticipated reimbursement changes, such as pay for performance, could perpetuate current growth trends. Hospital executives will need to develop new tools for coping with the continued development of specialty hospitals.
