AbstractIt is often said that regional anesthesia is the practice of applied anatomy. Therefore, it is fitting that on the occasion of his 500th birthday, we celebrate the life and work of the brilliant Flemish anatomist, Andreas Vesalius (1514-1564), the founder of modern anatomy.
