AbstractMost clinical guidelines that have been promulgated are based on an established clinical diagnosis. Complaint driven, instead of diagnosis driven, clinical policies and guidelines are the norm in Emergency Medicine and present several unique challenges. This discussion is intended to help identify these issues and offer insights and practical solutions. An actual case study is also provided to illustrate the process.
