AbstractExamples for the effective teaching of core knowledge and skills of advanced life support courses are given. Didactive requirements of the skill stations for emergency treatment of cardiac arrest scenarios are discussed. A standardized course concept based on the recommendations of the American Heart Association (AHA) (1) and European Resuscitation Council (ERC) (2) as well as valid and mandatory certification and recertification procedures are deemed necessary for physicians active in emergency medical systems.
