    AbstractCommunity-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality, despite effective therapies. Guidelines for CAP management vary widely in their approach. Resistance of S pneumoniae to penicillins and other antibiotics has prompted evaluation of the new fluoroquinolones.
