    AbstractCentral venous access has been widely used in the treatment of different categories of patients but it is associated with a wide range of complications. Different catheters, approaches and techniques have been employed to minimize those complications related to catheter insertion as well as those related to the prolonged use of catheters. This article reviews the technical aspects of central venous catheterization and associated complications.
