AbstractHospital types and utilization statistics for this article are from hospital Medicare cost reports as contained in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Hospital Cost Report Information System file. Data are reported according to hospital fiscal year ending dates. Data were adjusted to exclude cost reports that contain missing or unreasonable information. For more information, contact Thomas M.
