AbstractMedical-surgical nurses require specific training to recognize symptoms of systemic inflammatory response syndrome before they progress to sepsis. Specialized training and education, combined with the use of a surveillance tool, can allow heightened nursing surveillance of at-risk patients in the medical-surgical setting.
