AbstractThe feasibility of applying fast track surgery in its current form in the elderly still remains to be proven. It is important to identify the reasons for failure and carve out programs suited to the impaired physiology in this patient population. There needs to be a consensus among practitioner regarding the definitions of failure and flexibility of fast track programs at institutional as well as regional levels.
