AbstractThe Port-Access endovascular cardiopulmonary bypass system (Heartport, Inc., Redwood City, CA, USA), a recent technological innovation in minimally invasive cardiac surgery, was conducted successfully in coronary artery bypass grafting on a 69-year-old woman. The left internal thoracic artery was harvested through a limited left anterior thoracotomy and anastomosed to the left anterior descending coronary artery on a protected and arrested heart. Intraoperative coronary angiography confirmed good graft patency. The patient was discharged from the hospital in good condition 7 days after the operation. This was the first successful minimally invasive Port-Access coronary artery bypass grafting in Japan.
