AbstractThis article briefly reviews the history of ROP followed by a discussion of the pathogenesis of this complex disorder. We describe the International Classification System for ROP and identify risk factors and screening recommendations. Finally, we discuss some of the measures that have been used in an attempt to both prevent and treat ROP.
