    AbstractAt the university hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) there was decided to introduce the concept of primary nursing. A team, mainly consisting of care management members, was formed to outline a framework, assisted and guided by the author's scientific expertise. The framework should comprise following fundamental components: scope of duties, reporting and delegating regulations, occupational skills and qualifications, and assignment of patients as well as human resources planning. This concept has been successfully accomplished within the given five sessions, whereby scheduling the nursing staffs attendance and resource in a work plan as well as personnel planning occured to be main problems. Currently, this concept is being transformed into action and evaluation.
