AbstractSexual concerns are common in women with chronic pelvic pain and often remain unresolved when pain improves. Therefore, to restore pelvic function, treatment should address sexuality in addition to pain. In this article, I describe sexual challenges experienced by women with chronic pelvic pain, introduce a modified sexuality counseling model, and suggest sexuality resources and training for gynecologic nurses and other health care providers who are ideally positioned to offer sexuality counseling to this population.© 2012 AWHONN, the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses.
