AbstractLung cancer is still one of the main reasons for death in the western world. Its prevalence follows the pattern of smoking habits. Despite extensive research efforts there is still no break-through in systemic therapy of advanced lung cancer. Nevertheless, long-term survival has steadily been increasing during the last decades. This review is focussing on recent progress in treating non-small cell and small cell lung cancer patients.
