AbstractCoagulation disorders in liver disease (cirrhosis or acute hepatic necrosis) may be assessed by the laboratory evaluation of factors V, VII, VIII and IX, and fibrinolysis. Tests of platelet and vascular function do not significantly contribute to this assessment. The response of the factors to vitamin K and to fresh frozen plasma contribute to the assessment of bleeding potential and prognosis.
