    AbstractFree wall rupture of the left ventricle remains a lethal complication of acute myocardial infarction. Nevertheless, where it presents subacutely with tamponade, salvage with a good outcome is still possible with timely pericardiocentesis preceding definitive repair using a sutureless technique.
