Many general surgeons have incorporated laparoscopic cholecystectomy into their clinical practices usually after completing postgraduate didactic and laboratory animal training course. As in laparoscopic surgery, it is necessary a special training of the surgeons, it is recommended that the medical universities for postgraduate studies should train them in this respect. At the same time the medical scientific societies should confirm the competence the surgeons' competence in the field and, moreover protect them legally.
