AbstractSince the implementation of the model of end-stage liver disease score to prioritize patients for orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT), the number of liver transplant candidates with renal failure and on renal replacement therapy (RRT) has dramatically increased. This review is intended to discuss the indications and implications of RRT initiation, the different RRT modalities, and special problems encountered with RRT in OLT candidates.
