AbstractThe major Democratic presidential candidates' plans for healthcare reform include implementing universal health care, establishing an employer mandate, expanding public programs, improving healthcare quality, and investing in health IT. The major Republican presidential candidates' plans include changing the tax code to provide incentives for people to buy insurance coverage, using private-market incentives to reduce costs, encouraging states to craft health reforms, and promoting competition and individual choice.
