AbstractA newly devised double balloon catheter to augment abdominal organ perfusion concomitant with original cardiac assist during intraaortic balloon counterpulsation provided satisfactory hemodynamics and urinary output around cardiac surgical procedures in 2 patients with coronary artery disease. Some optional advantages in clinical application and problems arising in the catheter design which need to be investigated are discussed.
