AbstractThe clinical data of 3,911 burn patients admitted to our institute from January, 1983 to December, 1992 were analyzed mainly on the distribution of age, causes of burns, burn area, combined injuries, common complications, incidence of burn shock, mortality and cause of death. Results showed that 91.7 per cent of deceased had suffered from inhalation injury, internal organ complications and systemic infection, suggesting that inhalation injury, visceral complication and systemic infection still remain to be the three major causes of death in burn patients.
