AbstractPulmonary complications are the major source of morbidity and mortality after esophageal resection, and numerous studies have identified various associated with these complications. This article discusses preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative factors affecting pulmonary complications and strategies to reduce these complications after esophagectomy.
