AbstractThe authors report on a case of emphysematous pyelonephritis occurring in a diabetic patient and caused by Candida albicans. The fungal infection was proved by urine culture and histological examination of the nephrectomy specimen. The patient deceased despite intensive medical therapy and nephrectomy.
