AbstractA trapezoid flap, which includes scarred skin in its substance, has been designed to allow correction of burn scar contractures. The method is widely applicable in many areas of the body and appears to overcome many of the shortcomings of traditional methods of scar release. The design and use of the flap is illustrated. At the time of writing this technique has been used on five patients. The results are encouraging and all the patients have retained full release of their scar contractures.
