AbstractSince small cell carcinoma is a treatable disease, with surgery being beneficial in a few cases and with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy contributing to prolonged survival in patients with inoperable disease, it is essential that the clinical and pathologic features of small cell carcinoma be quickly recognized in a newly presenting patient so that appropriate therapy may be offered.
