ConclusionMost children with congenital heart disease can be man-aged safely if the pathophysiology of their lesion and the anaesthetic implications are understood. However, recent reviews of anaesthetic morbidity reveal a high incidence of anaesthetic-related adverse events in children with congenital heart disease.
