AbstractAmong 20 consecutive patients (65% women) with drug-associated torsades de pointes, chemical evidence for hypothyroidism was found in only 10% of both women and men. Subclinical hypothyroidism is therefore unlikely to account for the consistently observed sex difference in the propensity to torsades de pointes.
