AbstractTwo newborns with congenital oesophageal atresia (Gross type III) were successfully operated on during the neonatal period. The occurrence, several months later, of chronic cough, associated in one infant with impaired pulmonary ventilation, lead to the discovery of a tracheal diverticulum, on the pathway of the primitive tracheo-esophageal fistula. Surgical excision of the diverticulum was followed by complete recovery.
