AbstractOsteoid osteomas are benign bone tumors which rarely occur in the hand and impose severe diagnostic problems. The course of the disease is often protracted before the patient receives an adequate surgical treatment. The case of an osteoid osteoma in the scaphoid bone of a 15-year-old patient is presented, who was completely symptom free after a true diagnostic odyssey by resection of the nidus and reconstruction by crest bone graft and spongiosaplasty.
