AbstractMannitol is an osmotic diuretic commonly used to reduce intracranial pressure. While various side-effects, including hyperosmolar states, precipitate reduction in intracranial pressure, rebound phenomenon and hypervolaemia have been described, hypotension due to rapid administration has not been widely recognised.
