[A change to the traditional medicine in Persia?].

    • Bardia Sabet-Azad.
    • Hist Sci Med. 2015 Jul 1; 49 (3-4): 331-9.

AbstractUntil the 19th century, medicine in Persia is mainly based on the humoral theory. According to some authors, the introduction of anatomical pathology principles is due to the particular political and health circumstances of this century and the intellectual evolution of Persian physicians. By making a comparison between the text of Shirazi, the prominent Persian physician of the 19th century, and the writings of Avicenna on cholera and heyze (acute diarrhea), this article tests this hypothesis.
