    AbstractThe guideline on febrile neutropenia(FN)was published by the Japanese Society of Medical Oncology(JSMO)in 2012. Based on this guideline, the treatment strategy for febrile neutropenia that is discussed in this paper includes empiric treatment strategies, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus antibiotics in the initial treatment, treatment for severe FN, treatment for outpatients, duration of FN treatment, treatment after recovery from fever associated with neutropenia, and empiric treatment with anti-fungal drugs in patients with prolonged FN.
