AbstractThe Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act significantly changes HIPAA privacy and security policies that affect physicians. Chief among the changes are the new breach notification regulations, developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights. The Texas Medical Association has developed resources to help physicians comply with the new HIPAA regulations.
