AbstractThis article reviews the relationship between ageing and nutrition. The vulnerability of older adults to nutritional decline is explored and the importance of nutritional screening in this population is discussed. The author considers some of the barriers to achieving nutritional adequacy once patients have been admitted to hospital and suggests how these can be overcome.
