AbstractChest tubes are inserted for a variety of reasons, and a number of complications have been associated with their use. We report a case of traumatic hemopneumothorax in which the chest tube crossed the mediastinum into the contralateral lung causing a pneumothorax. Its position was not apparent on portable chest radiographs.
