Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyEarly neonatal outcomes of volume guaranteed ventilation in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome.
Volume guaranteed (VG) synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation (SIMV) is a novel mode of SIMV that provides automatic adjustment of the peak inspiratory pressure for ensuring a minimum set tidal volume and there are limited data about the effects of VG ventilation on short term neonatal outcomes in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). ⋯ In conclusion, VG ventilation in combination with surfactant treatment significantly reduced both duration of mechanical ventilation and early neonatal oxygen related morbidities including BPD, ROP and IVH in preterm infants with RDS. This data favors the use of VG ventilation in respiratory support of premature infants.

Comparative StudySevere sepsis and septic shock in pregnancy: indications for delivery and maternal and perinatal outcomes.
To report maternal and perinatal outcomes in obstetric patients with severe sepsis and septic shock. ⋯ ARDS is frequently found in critically ill obstetric patients with severe sepsis/septic shock and is associated with a high risk of emergent cesarean delivery.

Influence of chorionicity in intra-partum management of twin deliveries.
To analyze morbidity and mortality in twin pregnancies as a function of the type of delivery and chorionicity. ⋯ According to the results, vaginal delivery is as safe as elective caesarean section in twin pregnancies where the first twin is in cephalic presentation and the intrapartum management should not vary due to chorionicity.

Isolated intrauterine growth restriction: a survey of Central Association of Obstetricians Gynecologists (CAOG) members.
The objective was to ascertain clinicians' opinions and current management with isolated (no concomitant morbidity) intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). ⋯ There is large practice variation in detection and management of isolated IUGR. This stresses the need for additional studies and a national guideline on its management.
