Case ReportsIntraoperative spinal cord monitoring of C5 palsy after cervical laminoplasty.
Retrospective study of C5 palsy after laminoplasty for cervical myelopathy. ⋯ In the paralysis group, the incidences of waveform pattern change on intraoperative MEP and stenosis of the intervertebral foramen were higher than those in the nonparalysis group.

Transfacetal fusion for low-grade degenerative spondylolisthesis of the lumbar spine: results of a prospective single center study.
Prospective, nonrandomised, single center. ⋯ Degenerative spondylolisthesis with lower grade slips and normal anterior structures represent an ideal indication for transfacetal fusion. This is a simple and useful technique for short segment fusions of the lumbar spine.

Comparative StudyBiomechanical comparison of transpedicular versus extrapedicular vertebroplasty using polymethylmethacrylate.
An in vitro biomechanical study using osteoporotic cadaveric vertebrae. ⋯ Both extrapedicular and transpedicular techniques increased strength but reduced stiffness compared with the intact condition. The extrapedicular technique achieved greater height restoration possibly attributed to its easier access to the fracture site. These biomechanical data provide useful information when selecting an approach for cement injection in vertebroplasty procedures.

Transpedicular bivertebrae wedge osteotomy and discectomy in lumbar spine for severe ankylosing spondylitis.
A prospective study was performed in 8 patients with severe ankylosing spondylitis. ⋯ In cases of severe ankylosing spondylitis kyphosis with chin-brow vertical angles beyond 90 degrees, a single stage transpedicular bivertebrae wedge osteotomy and discectomy is an effective corrected method of correction.

A retrospective analysis of patient perceived outcomes in patients 55 years and older undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion.
Retrospective review of clinical outcomes after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) surgery with allograft and plating in patients over 55 years of age. ⋯ On the basis of our statistically significant improvement in NDI and SF-36 scores, as a measure of patient perceived outcome after ACDF surgery, outcomes after ACDF surgery in patients over 55 years of age are not significantly different than those of a younger patient population.
