Aperius PercLID stand alone interspinous system for the treatment of degenerative lumbar stenosis: experience on 152 cases.
This study is a retrospective clinical investigation of a new interspinous device implanted via a totally percutaneous technique involving 152 consecutive patients. ⋯ These results indicate that Aperius PercLID system offers an easy, safe, and effective treatment for patients with lumbar degenerative stenosis. Thus, this device system treatment represents a valid alternative to the traditional surgical techniques.

A retrospective analysis of patient perceived outcomes in patients 55 years and older undergoing anterior cervical discectomy and fusion.
Retrospective review of clinical outcomes after anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) surgery with allograft and plating in patients over 55 years of age. ⋯ On the basis of our statistically significant improvement in NDI and SF-36 scores, as a measure of patient perceived outcome after ACDF surgery, outcomes after ACDF surgery in patients over 55 years of age are not significantly different than those of a younger patient population.

Evaluation of a new spine classification system, does it accurately predict treatment?
The Thoracolumbar Injury Severity Score (TLISS) was introduced as a novel classifications system. Its aim was to simplify classification of thoracolumbar fractures, grade their severity in an ordinal manner as a guide to management. This study attempted to validate the TLISS as a guide to management. ⋯ As a management tool, the TLISS seems to consistently suggest treatment consistent with past treatment recommendations. Multilevel contiguous fractures and extension injuries in the ankylosed thoracic spine appear to be the most consistent exceptions to the TLISS guidelines.
