Suicide rates in Denmark have declined since 1980 both in the general population and among psychiatric patients. In recent years, the number of suicides in Denmark has been rather stable with approximately 650 incidents each year. ⋯ A crisis plan developed together with the patient can be helpful. Regular screening for risk of suicide should be implemented in psychiatric services.

Review[The use of ultrasound for nerve block in children seems beneficial].
Nerve blocks play an increasingly important role in pediatric regional anaesthesia. The benefits are numerous compared to standard pain regimens. ⋯ Furthermore, US has the potential to reduce the rate of complications. This review describes both classic and US guided techniques for the peripheral nerve blocks used for pediatric abdominal and thoracic surgery and briefly discusses the advantages and disadvantages of applying US.

Peripheral nerve blockade (PNB) is an important part of the anaesthesiologist's armamentarium. It constitutes an alternative to general anaesthesia, thus it is important that all anaesthesiologists have adequate skills in this area. ⋯ An answer to this problem is to provide adequate education in PNB in the early stage of postgraduate training. This article presents how we, at our institution, have set up a PNB program that provides value.

Early mobilization after surgery is crucial for an enhanced recovery and can reduce complications associated with immobility. Symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, blurred vision and dizziness are however known to impede early mobilization. Together these symptoms comprise orthostatic intolerance (OI), in which the ultimate manifestation is syncope. In reference to find preventive and relevant treatment for OI studies with a multimodal approach have shown promising results, though the pathophysiology behind OI is not fully understood.
