18F-FDG PET/CT for detection and localization of residual or recurrent disease in patients with multiple myeloma after stem cell transplantation.
The aim of the study was to determine the diagnostic performance of (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/CT for the detection and localization of residual or recurrent disease in patients with multiple myeloma (MM) after stem cell transplantation. ⋯ In patients with MM in the post-transplant setting, (18)F-FDG PET/CT may (1) contribute to the detection and localization of disease, (2) provide information about the extent of distinct myeloma manifestations and the total disease burden and (3) add information about the metabolic activity of disease, but (4) has substantially lower sensitivity for this purpose compared to the pretreatment setting.

Comparative StudyComparison of sequential planar 177Lu-DOTA-TATE dosimetry scans with 68Ga-DOTA-TATE PET/CT images in patients with metastasized neuroendocrine tumours undergoing peptide receptor radionuclide therapy.
The aim of the study was to compare sequential (177)Lu-DOTA-TATE planar scans ((177)Lu-DOTA-TATE) in patients with metastasized neuroendocrine tumours (NET) acquired during peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) for dosimetry purposes with the pre-therapeutic (68)Ga-DOTA-TATE positron emission tomography (PET)/CT ((68)Ga-DOTA-TATE) maximum intensity projection (MIP) images obtained in the same patients concerning the sensitivity of the different methods. ⋯ Although (177)Lu-DOTA-TATE planar dosimetry scans exhibited a very good sensitivity for the detection of metastases, they failed to pick up 9% of lesions seen on the (68)Ga-DOTA-TATE PET/CT. Three-dimensional dosimetry using single photon emission computed tomography/CT could be applied to investigate this issue further. Delayed (72 h) images are most suitable for drawing regions of interest for dosimetric calculations.

Clinical Trial18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography pulmonary imaging in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is reproducible: implications for future clinical trials.
Noninvasive markers of disease activity in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) are lacking. We performed this study to investigate the reproducibility of pulmonary (18)F-FDG PET/CT in patients with IPF. ⋯ This study demonstrated that there is excellent short-term reproducibility in pulmonary (18)F-FDG uptake in patients with IPF.

Clinical TrialThe effects of 3-month atorvastatin therapy on arterial inflammation, calcification, abdominal adipose tissue and circulating biomarkers.
(18)F-Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/CT has the potential to track vascular inflammation and monitor therapeutic response. The purpose of this study was to determine the association between arterial inflammation, calcification and serological biomarkers in subjects with atherosclerosis, and to assess their therapeutic response to 12-week atorvastatin treatment. ⋯ The medium dose of atorvastatin over a 12-week period resulted in a significant reduction of arterial inflammation as well as various circulating biomarkers.
