Comparison of 18F-FDG PET/MRI, MRI, and 18F-FDG PET/CT for the detection of synchronous cancers and distant metastases in patients with oropharyngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
In this prospective study, we sought to compare the clinical utility of fluorodeoxyglucose PET/MRI, MRI, and PET/CT in the detection of synchronous cancers and distant metastases in patients with oropharyngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OHSCC). ⋯ In our cohort, PET/MRI showed a significantly higher diagnostic capability than MRI and no significant difference compared with PET/CT for the detection of synchronous cancers or distant metastases in patients with OHSCC.
