Comparative Study[Antifibrinolytic agents and repeat open-heart surgery: a comparison of tranexamic acid and low dose aprotinin].
This retrospective study has for objective to compare the effect of tranexamic acid with low-dose of aprotinin therapy on blood loss in reoperative cardiac surgery. ⋯ This study concludes that tranexamic acid and low dose aprotinin effectively reduces postoperative bleeding in repeat open-heart surgery. However, the marked difference in superiority between these tow drug therapies needs the randomized and controlled study.

Comparative Study[Vascular approaches and closure devices for percutaneous coronary intervention].
The choice of a transradial or transfemoral approach remains a pivotal decision in percutaneous coronary angioplasty. We discuss here the varying criteria leading to a rational choice in the arterial access choice. Since the emergent transradial approach in France has led to a dramatic reduction in local vascular complications, we also discuss the remaining place of femoral approach and the usefulness of femoral percutaneous closure devices.

Case Reports[Left ventricular assist devices in the catheterisation laboratory].
Mechanical cardiac support represents a large spectrum of devices. The duration of assistance may vary from a few hours in the cath lab to several weeks. The goals for a temporary support by percutaneus assistance are: improve end-organ perfusion; decrease pulmonary capillary wedge pressure; decrease myocardial oxygen consumption. The potential indications are: acute left ventricular dysfunction; "bridge to recovery": acute myocarditis, acute myocardial infarction, valve disease bridge to surgery; "bridge to implantable LVAD"; "bridge to transplant"; high risk PCI and surgery.
