Gender Differences in Perception of Workplace Experience Among Anesthesiology Residents.
Medical education is moving toward gender parity; however, many fields, including anesthesiology, remain predominantly male. The gender gap in anesthesiology is poorly recognized, and little is known about why it exists. It is possible that perceived workplace discrimination may deter women from pursuing a career in anesthesiology. We administered a survey to examine whether gender differences affect the experience of anesthesiology residents in the workplace. ⋯ Our study revealed that female anesthesiology residents perceive more gender-based discrimination at work. Perceptions of workplace discrimination may contribute to the persistence of gender gaps in different areas of medicine.

Creation and Evaluation of an Anesthesiology and Critical Care Podcast.
Podcasts have become an integral part of Free Open Access Medical education. After only 1 year since launching the Anesthesia and Critical Care Reviews and Commentary (ACCRAC) podcast, more than 7000 people were listening to unique content monthly. The study goal was to capture the listeners' views of their use of educational podcasts in general and of the ACCRAC podcast in particular. ⋯ The popularity of the podcast indicates a clear need for this type of educational modality in anesthesiology. The results suggest that there is a demand for podcasts among learners and that those who listen to podcasts do so frequently and value them because they support multitasking and provide flexible access to pertinent information.
