Outcome of video-assisted thoracoscopic implantation of epicardial left ventricular leads with visual targeting for cardiac resynchronization therapy.
Our goal was to analyse the implantation and outcome of thoracoscopic epicardial leads after a failed endovascular approach or follow-up (FU) complications after endovascular implantation. ⋯ VAT implantation of LV leads had an excellent response rate with an improvement in NYHA functional class and left ventricular ejection fraction. The lead measurements were mainly stable over time.

Sex-specific outcome after minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass for single-vessel disease.
Female gender is reported as an independent risk factor for a poor outcome after coronary artery bypass grafting. We analysed the influence of gender on surgical outcome in patients with single-vessel disease undergoing minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB). ⋯ Female patients showed no adverse outcomes after MIDCAB, although risk factors were gender-specific. Overall, MIDCAB demonstrated excellent short- and long-term results as a treatment for single-vessel disease in both genders.

Randomized Controlled TrialSerratus plane block for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery major lung resection: a randomized controlled trial.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of 2 different analgesic approaches on pain, postoperative rehabilitation exercises and rescue analgesics of 2 groups of patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) major lung resection for cancer. ⋯ NCT03134729.

In vitro study of trileaflet polytetrafluoroethylene conduit and its valve-in-valve transformation.
Handmade trileaflet expanded polytetrafluoroethylene valved conduit developed using the flip-over method has been tailored for pulmonary valve reconstruction with satisfactory outcomes. We investigated the in vitro performance of the valve design in a mock circulatory system with various conduit sizes. In our study, the design was transformed into a transcatheter stent graft system which could fit in original valved conduits in a valve-in-valve fashion. ⋯ The study showed excellent in vitro performance of trileaflet polytetrafluoroethylene valved conduits. Its valved stent graft transformation provided data which may serve as a reference for transcatheter valve-in-valve research in the future.

Case ReportsDelayed lung expansion after decortication in a case of trapped lung resulting from catamenial haemothorax.
Herein, we report the case of a 35-year-old female with a trapped right lung secondary to catamenial haemothorax. Following surgical decortication, re-expansion of the lung was not observed until postoperative day 81. This delay represents a heretofore unencountered complication that should be considered in the surgical management of catamenial haemothorax due to thoracic endometriosis syndrome.
