Sex differences in treatment patterns of six chronic diseases: an analysis from the German statutory health insurance.
The goal of this study was to investigate gender-specific differences in prevalence, healthcare costs, and treatment patterns in the German Statutory Health Insurance (SHI). ⋯ Gender differences for costs and prescribing patterns for chronic diseases vary disease specifically, but generally men had higher inpatient costs and more expensive medication prescriptions, whereas women had higher numbers of prescriptions.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEfficacy and tolerability of lumiracoxib 200 mg once daily for treatment of primary dysmenorrhea: results from two randomized controlled trials.
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are established as treatment for managing pain associated with primary dysmenorrhea. However, the efficacy and tolerability of lumiracoxib 200 mg once daily (q.d.) has not previously been examined in primary dysmenorrhea. ⋯ Short-term administration of lumiracoxib 200 mg q.d. is effective and well tolerated and provides an alternative treatment option for the management of moderate to severe pain associated with primary dysmenorrhea.

Review Case ReportsCatamenial pneumothorax: a case report and review of the literature.
A 39-year-old woman presented with the chief complaint of right-sided chest pressure and shortness of breath with dry cough for 3 days. These symptoms coincided with the onset of her menstrual cycle. Her physical examination was significant for decreased breath sounds at the right lung base. ⋯ Catamenial pneumothorax is a rare condition affecting women in their reproductive years. Women with this condition most commonly have right-sided pneumothorax. The proper diagnosis is based on being aware of the existence of this relatively rare condition and relating the symptoms of pneumothorax temporally to the menses.
