Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic and debilitating inflammatory disease derived from the pilosebaceous unit, that affects approximately 1% of the general population. Clinically, it is characterized by inflammatory nodules, abscesses, and tunnels in the intertriginous areas of the body, especially in the axillary, inguinal, and anogenital regions. ⋯ Currently, HS is recognized as a systemic disease associated with numerous comorbidities, including cardiovascular, immune-mediated, and endocrine-metabolic diseases. The treatment of HS must be carried out with an individualized and patient-oriented approach, considering medical and surgical treatment modalities.

IgG replacement therapy (IgG-RT) has radically changed the clinical evolution of primary immunodeficiencies, yet the information regarding secondary hypogammaglobulinemia (SHG) is insufficient or conflicting. We aim to describe clinical features, evolution and treatment of SHG patients in our center. ⋯ SHG was associated with more than one etiological factor and a high frequency of infections. IgG-RT indication was irregular yet still effective. It is relevant to consider IgG levels screening, monitoring and accurate indication of IgG-RT.

Prognosis of acute heart failure in patients followed up in nursing homes in Spain: Results from the RICA registry.
Patients with chronic diseases such as heart failure (HF) are at risk of hospital admission. We evaluated the impact of living in nursing homes (NH) on readmissions and all-cause mortality of HF patients during a one-year follow up. ⋯ Nursing home residents with heart failure showed higher one-year mortality which could be due to worse functional status, higher comorbidity, and cognitive deterioration.

COVID-19, caused by SARS-CoV-2, has spread around the world since 2019. In severe cases, COVID-19 can lead to hospitalization and death. Systemic arterial hypertension and other comorbidities are associated with serious COVID-19 infection. Literature is unclear whether antihypertensive therapy with angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors affect COVID-19 outcomes. We aim to assess whether ACEI/ARB therapy is a risk factor for worse respiratory outcomes related to COVID-19 in hospitalized patients. ⋯ Altogether, our findings suggest that ACEI or ARB therapy does not affect the risk of death and disease course during hospitalization.
